I am a pretty restless person, sometimes to a fault. Pushing boundaries isn't anything new in my book. Freshly 18 and on, I found myself traveling, making moves across the country, even moving out of the country, and always looking for a path that challenged the traditional college to 9-5 pipeline.
My focus has always been, "How do I make this work and like it?". Finding more people who had the same struggle changed my outlook. Moving to Nashville, I'm sure you can imagine, gave me the courage to try and fail at things and planted the seed of the importance of having your voice.
Next was the last-minute leap to move to Italy as an au pair. I saw this opportunity and booked my flight within a month without even knowing the language. I did say something about being restless, right? When back home that need to push the boundaries was not done with making my early twenties bucket list.
If you have noticed by now, travel is pretty high on my list. So, I built a tiny home inside of an old Vermont school bus-wood stove and all. This was by far one of my biggest undertakings. When all was said and done, I moved the bus from fully snow-covered Vermont down to southern New Mexico.
The first sunburn that year was no joke. When out in NM the reality of remote work finally clicked.
How'd I get here?
Born from an old hobby, is Stars Align Studio. In high school, I started getting curious about Website Design and branding. At the start of my journey as a singer-songwriter, I started making draft after draft for my own website. I was completely lost on how to make a cohesive look so I took a class on coding in web design.
Coding wasn't for me. So, I took online courses on branding and marketing to still fuel the fire. My interest continued as I made websites on platforms like Wix and offered them up to small businesses near me as a show of support.
At this point, I still hadn't realized this could be something bigger. It wasn't until after my jump into the online space as a Virtual Assistant that I saw what was out there. While a VA, my clients would send me their branding packages to create and keep up with their social media content. I loved the idea of making brand kits for people's businesses, and how personal they can be. Naturally, my old "hobby" and desire to create something tailored to someone's business and personality led to the launch of my design studio.
Here you are looking right at it! Those shoes you are standing in now, to try and propel your passion to the next level, I've been there. Let's do this thing!
